- Confirm current hours and accepted categories before traveling.
Sell, donate, repair, or recycle?
List an item when it is usable and worth the time to photograph and coordinate. Donate when a faster handoff is more useful. Repair items with practical life left, and look for textile recycling only when a local program accepts material that is no longer wearable.
Frequently asked questions
Can damaged clothing go into a donation box?
Do not assume it can. Some programs accept worn textiles for recycling, while others only accept reusable clothing. Wet, moldy, contaminated, or hazardous material should not be placed in a donation box.
Why confirm hours if a location appears on the map?
Map listings can become outdated, and unattended boxes may be full or temporarily unavailable. Confirming first can prevent an unnecessary trip.
